United States Rep. Terri Sewell met with residents in Pickens County on Friday to discuss health care issues, including the expansion of Medicaid. The event was held in the Carrollton Service Center. Before the event began, free health screenings were available for everyone in attendance.“Unfortunately we are paying taxpayer dollars here in Alabama to help other states expand Medicaid,” Sewell said. “We need our state to expand Medicaid. I’m a part of a lead sponsor on a bill that would give one hundred percent participation even though Alabama is one of the fourteen states that has not done it thus far. I think it’s important to incentivize states like Alabama to expand Medicaid.”The event was the sixth stop in Sewell’s 2019 Congress in Your Community Tour.
