first_img Shorter 11/18/2017 – 2:00 PM Full Schedule Roster Preview Live Stats Watch Livecenter_img Next Game: PENSACOLA, Fla. – UWF volleyball (26-6, 16-0 GSC) capped its regular season with a resounding 3-0 victory over Shorter (18-10, 11-5 GSC) in the UWF Field House Saturday afternoon, sweeping the Lady Hawks behind a career-best performance from Katy Kuhlmeier. The senior led the way with a career-high 17 kills and a .593 attack percentage.The win concluded a perfect GSC regular season for the Argos. The 16-0 mark stands as the best conference record in school history. It is the fourth time in head coach Melissa Wolter’s tenure that the team has gone through the conference regular season undefeated. UWF will host the GSC Tournament November 17-19.”I think our team is excited about going into the postseason and excited to be the No. 1 seed. But at the end of the day, now it’s 0-0,” head coach Melissa Wolter said of wrapping the regular season and entering postseason play. “That’s the point we’re going to drive home all week long is that the regular season title is done. Now we’re into postseason. It’s one and done, and we need to make sure we’re taking care of every single opponent and not looking ahead.”The Argos took the first set by a final of 25-22. UWF reeled off a 9-3 run with the score tied at 4-4 to take a 13-7 advantage. Shorter would rally though, reeling off a 10-5 run to cut the lead to 18-17. A key kill by Neblett ended a long rally to give UWF breathing room at 21-19 before Shorter again rallied to force a tie at 22-22. But it was an Argos run that would end the set. UWF slammed the door on the first with a 3-0 rally punctuated by a set-ending block from Neblett and Jordyn Poppen for the win.Kuhlmeier finished with four kills in the set, as did Neblett, who also registered three blocks. Monique StCyr paced the team with 12 assists. Logan Kael posted 11 digs. Each team committed eight errors in the set.UWF opened the second set with a strong performance, racing out to an 8-1 lead to force a Shorter timeout. Nothing could stanch the momentum though, as the Argos ran the lead all the way to 13-1. The Argos would ride the early wave to a convincing 25-9 victory.UWF clinched the match by taking the third set 25-20. Kuhlmeier and Poppen closed the finale with back-to-back kills. The Argos outhit Shorter .314 to .087 for the match. Neblett finished the day with nine kills, four kills and a .375 hitting percentage. Caleigh Morrison notched eight kills and two blocks. Poppen posted eight kills. Kael led the team with 30 digs, and StCyr led the team with 37 assists. The win was the team’s ninth straight, the last six of which have been sweeps.The No. 20 Argos will host the GSC Tournament  in the UWF Field House beginning November 17.
