AC/DC Confirm Reunion With Brian Johnson, Cliff Williams, Phil Rudd

first_imgThe fate of one of the highest-selling rock bands of the arena rock era had been in limbo since the completion of their Rock or Bust World Tour in September 2016. Johnson retired suddenly mid-tour due to hearing loss and was replaced by Axl Rose. Bassist Cliff Williams also retired from performing in 2016 following the final show of the tour, and drummer Phil Rudd never quite retired but was replaced by former drummer Chris Slade in 2015 due to Rudd’s serious legal issues at the time. With AC/DC’s famous Back In Black era lineup now reunited, the band will likely have some newly recorded music to share at some point until concerts can return. If major outdoor concert events can begin to make a comeback in 2021, the band may even confirm the possibility of plans for a major comeback tour, or at least a few official farewell concerts. Following legitimate online leaks over the past month after whispers of a possible reunion first emerged earlier this year, AC/DC confirmed on Wednesday that longtime and original members Brian Johnson, Cliff Williams, Phil Rudd have returned to action after all three seemed to have retired from the rock star life for various reasons a few years ago.A lone promotional photo shared by the band on Wednesday shows the three returned members with guitarist Angus Young and his nephew Stevie Young, who has since filled in for his late uncle a co-founding guitarist Malcolm Young who died in 2017. The image is joined by the copy, “ARE YOU READY? #PWRUP”, and the band’s website has also been updated in alignment with their “PWRUP” comeback branding.last_img read more
