LONDON, (Reuters) – A vintage display by Roger Federer took him past Rafael Nadal into the Wimbledon final in an eagerly-anticipated first grasscourt duel between the great rivals for 11 years today. The 40th career meeting between the golden duo with 38 Grand Slam titles between them, swung this way and that before Federer seized control to claim a 7-6(3) 1-6 6-3 6-4 victory.World number one and defending champion Novak Djokovic now stands between the 37-year-old Federer, the oldest finalist here since Ken Rosewall in 1974, and a record-equalling ninth Wimbledon title in Sunday’s showpiece.“I’m exhausted. It was tough at the end,” said 20-time Grand Slam champion Federer, who needed five match points to end an absorbing scrap that never scaled the heights of their 2008 epic when Nadal won a final dubbed the greatest of all time. “Rafa played some unbelievable shots to stay in the match. The match was played at a very high level.“It was a joy to play today,” he added after reaching his 31st Grand Slam final.
Mike Fiers made a decision this morning. We’re not sure if it was a good decision, but it was a decision. His chose to sport some new facial hair that can be described as …A rams horn?An upside-down question mark?A fish hook? Here, take a look for yourself because we’re at a loss for words.New look for Mike Fiers…#RootedInOakland pic.twitter.com/ZFpBHXoq0u— Brodie Brazil (@BrodieNBCS) September 14, 2019It might be a first for any MLB player.Sure, Rollie Fingers sported the handlebar mustache and Jeff Bagwell wore an ill-advised goatee when he was in his prime, but this is something entirely different. We’ll see if it helps him pitch any better this time out.Fiers gave up six home runs and nine earned runs in one inning of work in his last start. We didn’t think it could get any worse than that. Then we saw this. Let’s hope it doesn’t work out too well so it becomes a regular look for Fiers.

Ferguson, who led the Red Devils to 13 Premier League titles, believes the Portuguese tactician has been unlucky not to have turned more of those draws into wins.“I get on well with Jose and think he’s doing a really good job,” he told SiriusXM FC in quotes reported by the Daily Telegraph.“He’s been a bit unlucky actually because there are home games this season they’ve been absolutely brilliant in but have drawn them.“If they’d got those wins they deserved they’d be challenging for the league, there’s no doubt about that.”0Shares0000(Visited 1 times, 1 visits today)
