Former Purdue LB Joe Gilliam Has Passed Away At 26

Joe Gilliam, who played linebacker for the Boilermakers, has passed away at age 26.Gilliam died of stage 4 spinal glioblastoma. He passed away on Tuesday after battling the disease for more than a year.His high school coach Bill Peebles confirmed the brutal news on Facebook yesterday.2010 Joe is signing with Purdue as one of the all time greats at Southport. 2014 he’s in his prime as a college senior. 2016 he is diagnosed with a terrible and rare form of cancer. Summer of 2018 his former coaches are honored to visit with him. Today Joe passed away. We are all better people for knowing such a positive and good person. They say the good die young. I say the great never die because they make the world a better place. Joe made the world a better place.Gilliam played for Purdue from 2011-14. In his time with the Boilermakers, he recorded 103 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery.Gilliam’s best year came as a sophomore in 2012, when he compiled 57 tackles and his lone career sack.Cardinal Family Lost a great one today.
